Duncan and Catherine are a quick witted, fun loving couple who enjoy having a good time. Catherine, a scientist on an oil rig, and Duncan, a scientist as well, have traveled all over the world for work. Catherine, originally from Asheville, was classmates with the Ager-Clarke family who own Sherrill’s Inn. It was very fitting then that they chose Sherrill’s Inn as their wedding day venue. A fun, festive and non-traditional theme could be seen throughout the ceremony and reception. Duncan and Catherine chose to have their guests enjoy dinner first followed by their ceremony at twilight, where torches illuminated the ceremony site. The bride and bridesmaids carried balloon bouquets in lieu of flowers. At the reception, the couple was introduced by the Lego Movie theme song, “Everything is awesome” blasting in the background. Guests enjoyed eating a section of the ho ho train wedding cake designed by Ruth and Ranshaw for dessert. A gender reveal during the reception surprised all guests, including the bride and groom, which was followed by fireworks to celebrate the happy news. Guests danced the night away and were sad to see the festive night come to an end.
