All the way from South Africa where they reside, Anneliese and Schalk began making plans to travel back to Anneliese’s home state for their wedding. Homewood, an English stone manor and local historic landmark, was the perfect venue for their rustic woodland vision, and one they knew their international guests would be sure to enjoy. This autumn celebration brought together a mix of Tellico‘s bluegrass music, family-made blueberry pies and floral collections incorporating the magnificent King Protea, the national flower of South Africa. To offer their guests a well rounded Western NC experience, the couple planned a full weekend of local activities including a hike on the Blue Ridge Parkway, an authentic NC barbecue lunch from Luella’s Bar-B-Que paired with local beer from Catawba Brewing Co., and a welcome gathering featuring some of Asheville’s finest craft cocktails at Top of the Monk. Everyone got to spend quality time together before heading back to their home countries, and got a great taste of all that this lovely region has to offer.
