Stephanie and Danny got married in the beautiful mountains of Asheville, NC because it’s the couple’s favorite place to vacation and explore. Danny is a Metabolic Typing Advisor, Certified FDN Practitioner, and Personal Trainer. Stephanie is a LEED Green Associate, Building Analyst Professional, and a Holistic Lifestyle Coach. Health and the well being of people and the environment are among their greatest passions, which came through in every choice they made in planning their green wedding. It was immensely important to the couple that their celebration be as thoughtful and waste-less as possible. Stephanie recycled a pre-owned gown, which she had redesigned into her dream wedding dress, rather than purchase new. Saffron, a local catering company, used locally sourced veggies as well as local, antibiotic, hormone-free, and pasture raised meat. All food waste was composted, and leftovers were brought to a local shelter. The ceremony programs were printed on recycled paper and the invitations were printed on wildflower seeded paper that guests could take home and plant. Biodegradable rose tea confetti held in cones made of plant matter was tossed after the ceremony, and leftovers were re-used after the wedding. The centerpieces and bouquets were created using a variety of seasonal wildflowers provided by a local flower farmer, which were donated to a local nursing home after the wedding. The care and consideration that they took in planning each aspect of the wedding really came through, as beautifully as the surroundings they sought to preserve for future generations.
