Laughing Waters Retreat at Hickory Nut Forest is a retreat site and community center 25 minutes Southeast of Asheville. Laughing Waters sits on a 100 acre nature preserve in Hickory Nut Gorge that is nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. It is the community center for Hickory Nut Forest Eco-Community, a model of sustainable living that includes land conservation, energy-efficient homes, and organic orchard and gardens. Laughing Waters Retreat is constructed from locally-milled trees and is powered by a micro-hydro turbine that produces electricity from the tumbling waterfalls on the creek. Laughing Waters is a peaceful sanctuary that boosts tranquility, relaxation and rejuvenation. It is the perfect gathering place for a small group get together like a family reunion, rehearsal dinner or holiday party where visitors can enjoy the beautiful waterfalls and incredible hiking trails that the property has to offer. Inside, the warm, cozy and spacious great room features a hearthstone fireplace and is the perfect place for a seated meal of 30 guests. The lower room of the house offers a cork floor, which is perfect for a sunrise yoga class or an afternoon of peaceful meditation.
