Sherrill's Inn Wedding

Sherrill’s Inn was a cool, scenic stopping point on the Hickory Nut Turnpike, the gateway between Western North Carolina and the outside world, from the mid 1800s until 1908. The guest register includes U.S. Representative and later NC Governor and US Senator Zebulon Baird Vance in 1859, former U.S. President Millard Fillmore in 1858 and Governor Andrew Johnson of Tennessee in 1859. The present owners welcome guests openly, and are happy to relate the history of the place, as depicted in a mural in the east shed room that Annie Ager’s grandmother painted in the early 20th century (you have to see it!). The property is gorgeous, and unlike any other place in the area…one can spend hours weaving through the box hedges, hiking the property, and exploring the garden. How lucky we are to have this now private home and surrounding land available for events!

Kim and Seth, former residents of Asheville now living in NYC, chose to have their ceremony in the old tennis lawn, surrounded by a lovely stone wall and a perfect canopy of trees. Lush and green, it is just perfect for weddings.
