Mother Nature was showing off on this day! A spectacle by any stretch of the imagination, this spot off of the Blue Ridge Parkway was carefully chosen by Kristy and Brooks, two of our very own at Events by Kiersa. A picture is worth a thousand words, so feast your eyes below. While you are looking, however, keep in mind that a ceremony on the Parkway comes with its own dynamics. Most “spots” require a reasonably small guest list, due to the natural environment and parking limitations. All ceremonies require a permit obtained from the National Park Service. The travel time to get to and from the ceremony should be integrated into the timeline of the day. Some locations require a hike, requiring a certain level of physical fitness for everyone in attendance. While sunset is magnificent, make sure there’s plenty of time to walk the trail back before it gets too dark. And, due to the higher elevations, you can expect cooler temperatures and windy conditions. Lastly, having a rain plan is a must! The reception held later in the evening was at a private home in the woods where the deck, pictured below, could be tented to maintain an outdoor ceremony environment. When considering the pros and cons, keep in mind that challenging logistics can always be managed by careful planning and preparedness.
